Lilian Aylmer Jones (nee Cookworthy) was married to Lt Col Thomas Edward Aylmer Jones, she was a singer and musician. She taught music and gave recitals, there are letters from "delighted" pupils and their parents and many relating to Patronage to her concerts from members of society. There are also more personal letters from her to her mother, many from close friends and colleagues and some which refer to the pending bankruptcy of her husband in 1902. Of sentimental interest are a collection of letters written to her by three of her sons serving in WWI, these include the loose leaves of a diary written by Cecil who served with the 13th County of London in France. There are also letters written by Felix and Kenneth when they were at school. Amongst the ephemera are dance cards from c.1879 - 1885, a Valentine "Telegram" in envelope 1874, theatre programmes, old bills and photographs.
Sir Felix Edward Aylmer Jones (Felix Aylmer) was a notable actor, he was president of the British Actor's Equity Association from 1949 - 1969. During WWII he served in the RNVR and this collection contains long letters written by him whilst serving abroad. £250-350

The vendor's uncle survived WWI and became a corn merchant where he was lodging in Cardiff during the 1941 blitz. After the Air Raid siren sounded, Mr Reese and his landlady made their way to the air raid shelter. The landlady realised she had left her pet parrot behind and Mr Reese returned to the house to collect it. Tragically the house took a direct hit and was totally destroyed, the cigarette case was found in Mr Reese's pocket£50-60

Group Captain J N Williams OBE C.Eng MIEF 144601 RAF VR - born 4.1.23, joined RAF 3.7.41 qualified for Air Crew as wireless operator and air gunner. Commissioned 21.5.43, promoted to Group Captain 1.7.74 and retired 4.1.78. His last post being Chief of Communications Management Branch at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE).
During the war he flew over 400 hours. In Wellingtons, Warwicks, Sunderlands and Liberators etc and during his career totalled 1043 hours in 23 different types of aircraft and took part in the first Battle of Britain Fly Past in 1949, over London in a Lancaster. Half of his military career was served overseas in India, Burma, Java, Pakistan and 4 assignments in the USA. He was a crack shot and won in excess of 50 trophies for rifle, pistol and submachine gun competitions.£500-800

NB: The Bridgwater & Taunton Canal was opened in 1827, it connected the river Tone at Taunton to the river Parrot at Huntworth, ten years later it finally reached the centre of Bridgwater. Used to carry coal and iron from South Wales and agricultural goods from the surrounding area, it ceased as a commercial waterway in 1906. It is now fully restored and Maunsel lock keepers cottage is now an interpretation centre for the canal£300-350
