A battered silver cigarette case hallmarked 1925, monogrammed GR

The vendor's uncle Mr Gwyn Reese, a corn merchant, was lodging in Cardiff during the 1941 blitz. After the Air Raid siren sounded, Mr Reese and his landlady made their way to the Air Raid Shelter. The landlady realised she had left her pet parrot behind and Mr Reese returned to the house to collect it. Tragically the house took a direct hit and was totally destroyed, the cigarette case was found in Mr Reese's pocket

She served as one of Winston Churchill's secretaries in the "Bunker" London (The Cabinet War Rooms are now open as a museum). She was De-mobbed in 1945 and sadly killed whilst crossing the road in December 1974£60-80
