346 A SUPERB SOMERSET LIGHT INFANTRY GALLANTRY GROUP AND EFFECTS to Private 10392 W Saunders 7/Som LI Distinguished Conduct Medal, 1914/15 Star. WM and VM. The DCM is in very good uncleaned condition with original ribbon. 18ct gold Pocket Watch inscribed "Presented to Pte W Saunders DCM by F G Haggett Esq. JP Mayor of Bridgwater on behalf of Friends Appreciation of his Conspicuous Bravery at Lesboeufs on 16-9-16" together with mounted medal ribbons, photographs, cap badge, newspaper cuttings and congratulations from the Major General 20th Light Division on receiving the report of his gallant conduct, details of citation etc. NB: At the end of the war Sgt Saunders played rugby for the 3rd Bn SLI and a photograph is included. He then returned to work with Colthurst Symons in the Brick and Tile trade, retiring after 53 years service. Time eventually ran out and Mr Saunders died on 23/7/1973 aged 75. He is buried in the Bristol Road Cemetery, Bridgwater £1300-1500
